There were kitties everywhere,
littering the street.
Every Wednesday,
between 9:30 am and 11:00 am,
you had to move your car
for the kitty sweeping trucks.
On hot summer nights,
local pro-kitty activists would leave large batches of catnip
on the side of the road.
You’d have to close your windows at night,
because the collective purring was so loud
you could hear the bones in your ears rattle.
The kitties are gone now.
Some kitty theorists say they were never actually here to begin with,
that they were just a result of hallucinations caused by natural gas leaks.
I find this hard to believe
as there is still a thin layer of cat hair on most,
if not all
outdoor surfaces.
