“I tried writing [‘Velvet’] about a thousand times, but nothing felt right,” said King. “I almost gave up on the song completely, but I decided to come back to it one last time and this is what I came up with.”
“Velvet” is the product of more than a year’s effort from King, along with fellow Dallas-based producers Luke Jr and Pink Contrails.
“I’ve never worked on a song for so long. For me, ‘Velvet’ is the start of a new, more mature era- a grand and romantic visual and sound representation of what is to come.”
